General
The drop-out fuse, an essential outdoor high-voltage protector, is crucial for safeguarding electrical systems by being strategically installed on the high-voltage side of distribution transformers or serving as a vital support link in distribution lines. Its primary functions include providing short circuit and overload protection for transformers and lines, alongside managing load currents effectively. Constructed with an insulating bracket, the fuse features static contacts mounted at both bracket ends and moving contacts affixed to each end of the fuse tube. The fuse tube comprises an inner arc-extinguishing tube encased in either a phenolic paper tube or an epoxy glass cloth tube. This innovative pull-load drop-out fuse design boasts auxiliary contacts and an arc chute, significantly enhancing flexibility and capacity for handling load currents.
Under normal operation, the drop-out fuse maintains a closed position through the fuse tube's tension. During system failures, the fault current swiftly blows the fuse, creating an arc. The arc burns the arc tube, releasing abundant gases under high pressure, resulting in a vertical wind along the pipeline that rapidly extends the arc. Once the fuse blows, the moving contact loses tension, triggering the locking mechanism to release the fuse tube, which then drops, creating a breaking position. To pull the load, one utilizes an insulating rod to disengage the moving contact. Initially, the static and moving contacts remain engaged; however, continuous pulling separates the auxiliary contacts, forming an arc between them. This arc elongates within the hood's slit, where arc-extinguishing gas effectively quenches it upon current cessation.
Use and Standards
This versatile product is specifically engineered for use in 10 ~ 35KV distribution line branches and primary sides of distribution transformers. It provides robust protection against overloads and short circuits, facilitating the seamless separation and combination of rated load currents.
The product model adheres to the JB/T8321-1996 standards for type AC high-voltage fuses. Parameters are meticulously crafted following the GB15166.3-1994 high voltage expulsion fuses standards. Although these standards do not explicitly define all critical parameters and configurations, adjustments are made in accordance with JB/DQ2139-1986 requirements for 10 ~ 35KV outdoor high voltage drop fuses, ensuring compliance with interim technological specifications.
Designed as an outdoor high-voltage protective device, the drop-out fuse cutout and load switching fuse cutout are indispensable for connection with incoming feeders of distribution transformers or lines. They serve to protect transformers or lines from short circuits and overloads while facilitating on/off loading of current. The cutout is constructed with insulating supports and a fuse tube, featuring static contacts fixed on both sides of the supports and moving contacts installed at each end of the fuse tube. The fuse tube comprises an inner arc-extinguishing tube, encased in an outer phenolic compound paper tube or epoxy glass tube. Load switching fuse cutouts include enforced elastic auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguishing enclosure that efficiently manages on-off loading currents.
In regular operation, the fuse link secures the fuse tube in a closed position. Upon system faults, the resultant fault current swiftly melts the fuse link, generating an electric arc. This arc heats the arc-extinguishing tube, causing an explosive gas release that creates high pressure and a downward flow along the tube. Once the fuse link melts, the moving contact loses its tension, locking the mechanism and allowing the fuse tube to drop, thus opening the cutout. For switching off load during cutout operation, the operator uses an insulating operating bar to pull the moving contact. Initially, the main and auxiliary static contacts remain engaged, but further pulling separates them, forming an electric arc between the auxiliary contacts. This arc extends within the arc-extinguishing enclosure, where gas discharges effectively extinguish it as the current passes zero.
