General
The drop-out fuse and pull load drop-out fuse stand as vanguards in outdoor high-voltage electrical protection. Strategically installed on the high-voltage side of distribution transformers or as the supportive link in distribution lines, these fuses offer robust protection against short circuits and overloads, while facilitating smooth operation with co-load currents. Constructed with an insulating bracket and resilient fuse tubes, the design features static contacts at both ends of the insulation bracket and moving contacts at the ends of the fuse tube. This fuse tube comprises an inner arc tube and an outer layer made from phenolic paper or epoxy glass cloth tube. The inclusion of enhanced flexibility auxiliary contacts and an arc chute in the pull load drop-out fuse further elevates its performance, ensuring seamless operation with co-load currents.
In normal operations, the drop-out fuse maintains a closed position, bolstered by the fuse tube's tension. Upon system failure, the fault current swiftly blows the fuse, initiating an arc. This arc vigorously heats the arc tube, releasing copious gas and generating high pressure within, leading to a vertical wind rush along the pipeline that elongates and stretches the arc. Post blowing, the moving contact loses tension and disengages, releasing the lock mechanism and allowing the fuse tube to drop into its breaking position. During load disengagement, an insulating rod extracts the moving contact, initially keeping it in contact with the static contact. As the auxiliary contacts separate, an arc forms and elongates within the hood slit, with gas in the arc cover extinguishing the arc as the current reaches zero.
Use and Standards
Designed for use in 10 ~ 35KV distribution lines, branching lines, and as the primary side protection for distribution transformers, this product excels in overload and short circuit protection, effectively managing the separation and combination of the rated load current.
The product adheres to the JB/T8321-1996 method for AC high-voltage fuses preparation, with parameters crafted in line with GB15166.3-1994 standards for high voltage expulsion fuses. While certain critical parameters and configurations are not explicitly defined within these standards, adjustments can be made following the JB/DQ2139-1986 interim technology requirements for 10 ~ 35KV outdoor high voltage drop fuses.
Crafted as outdoor high voltage protective devices, drop-out fuse cutouts and load switching fuse cutouts are meticulously designed to connect with incoming feeders of distribution transformers or lines. Their primary role is to shield transformers or lines from short circuits and overloads, while effectively managing on/off load current. These cutouts incorporate insulated insulator supports, fuse tubes, and static contacts fixed on both sides of the insulator support, with moving contacts installed at both ends of the fuse tube. The fuse tube features an inside arc-extinguishing tube complemented by an outer phenolic compound paper or epoxy glass tube. Meanwhile, the load switching fuse cutout enhances performance with enforced elastic auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguishing enclosure for adept on-off load current management.
Under normal working conditions, the fuse link ensures the fuse tube remains secured in a closed position. When a system fault occurs, the fault current promptly melts the fuse, producing an electric arc that heats the arc-extinguishing tube, causing an explosion of gas and creating high pressure. This forcefully blows the arc along the tube. Once the fuse link melts, the moving contact no longer retains its tension, leading to the locking mechanism's release and the fuse tube's drop, marking the cutout as open. For cutout load switching, operators utilize an insulating operating bar to pull the moving contact. Initially, the main and auxiliary static contacts remain in contact; however, as the pull continues, the auxiliary contacts separate, generating an electric arc within the arc-extinguishing enclosure gap. Concurrently, the arc-extinguishing gas explosively expels, extinguishing the arc as the current reaches zero.
