Under normal operating conditions, the drop-out fuse is securely maintained in a closed position, with the fuse tube meticulously tensioned. The fuse tube features a sophisticated internal arc-extinguishing tube paired with an outer phenolic compound paper tube or epoxy glass tube. The load switching fuse cutout also incorporates enhanced, elastic auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguishing enclosure for highly efficient on-off load current switching.
In typical operational scenarios, the fuse link ensures that the fuse tube remains tightly secured in a closed position. Upon encountering faults, the fault current swiftly melts the fuse, generating an electric arc that heats the arc-extinguishing tube. This process releases substantial volumes of gas, creating high pressure to elongate and stretch the arc within the tube. After melting, the moving contact loses tension, allowing the mechanism to lock and the fuse tube to drop out, transitioning smoothly to an open position. For cutout load switching, operators utilize an insulating operating bar to pull the moving contact. Initially, the main contact stays engaged with the auxiliary static contact. As the auxiliary contact is further withdrawn, an electric arc forms between them, elongating within the arc-extinguishing enclosure gap. Simultaneously, the arc-extinguishing mechanism expels gas to efficiently extinguish the arc as the current passes through zero.
