The Drop-out Fuse and Pull Load Drop-out Fuse epitomize excellence in outdoor high-voltage electrical protection. These strategically deployed devices are either positioned on the high-voltage side of distribution transformers or serve as indispensable links in distribution lines. They act as vital guardians against transformer and line short circuits, overload conditions, and facilitate efficient current operations. Ingeniously designed, the drop-out fuse comprises an insulating bracket and fuse tubes, with static contacts affixed to each end of the bracket and moving contacts attached to the ends of the fuse tube. The fuse tube is crafted with an inner arc tube paired with an outer phenolic paper tube or epoxy glass cloth tube. The Pull Load Drop-out Fuse offers enhanced versatility with auxiliary contacts and an arc chute, specifically tailored for seamless current load operations.
Under normal conditions, the drop-out fuse is secured in a closed position with the fuse tube tensioned. If a system fault arises, the fault current promptly blows the fuse, creating an arc. This arc ignites the arc tube, leading to the decomposition of voluminous gas, building high pressure inside the tube, and forming a vertical airflow. This extraordinary process swiftly stretches and elongates the arc. Once the fuse is blown, the moving contact releases tension and rotates outward, while the locking mechanism disengages, allowing the fuse tube to fall and achieve a breaking position. For load pulling, an insulating rod is utilized to pull the moving contact, sustaining contact with the static contact. Designed to integrate seamlessly with incoming feeders of distribution transformers or lines, they play a crucial role in safeguarding transformers and lines against short circuits and overloads, while efficiently managing the on/off load current. The drop-out fuse cutout consists of insulating insulator supports and a fuse tube, with static contacts fixed on both sides of the insulator support and moving contacts installed at the ends of the fuse tube. The fuse tube features an internal arc-extinguishing tube paired with an outer phenolic compound paper tube or epoxy glass tube. The load switching fuse cutout also includes reinforced elastic auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguishing enclosure for effective on-off load current switching.
In typical operational scenarios, the fuse link ensures the fuse tube remains tightened to maintain a closed position. When faults occur, the fault current causes the fuse to melt instantaneously, generating an electric arc. This heats the arc-extinguishing tube, releasing a substantial volume of gas, creating high pressure and elongating the arc throughout the tube. Once the fuse link melts, the moving contact loses its tension, allowing the mechanism to lock and the fuse tube to drop out, switching to an open position. For load switching during cutout, operators must employ an insulating operating bar to pull the moving contact. Initially, the main contact engages with the auxiliary static contact. As the auxiliary contact is further pulled, an electric arc forms between the auxiliary contacts, which elongates within the arc-extinguishing enclosure gap. Simultaneously, the arc-extinguishing mechanism expels gas to extinguish the arc as the current passes through zero.
