General
The drop-out fuse and pull-load drop-out fuse are essential outdoor high-voltage protective devices. Designed to be installed on the high-voltage side of distribution transformers or at the support link of distribution lines, they provide critical short circuit and overload protection for transformers and lines. This device is composed of an insulating bracket and a fuse tube. Static contacts are firmly positioned at the ends of the insulation bracket, while the moving contacts are secured at the ends of the fuse tube. The fuse tube itself is ingeniously crafted, featuring an inner arc tube and an outer layer made of either high-quality phenolic paper or durable epoxy glass cloth. Additionally, the pull-load drop-out fuse is enhanced with flexible auxiliary contacts and an arc chute to efficiently handle co-load currents.
Under normal conditions, the drop-out fuse maintains a closed position through the tension of the fuse tube. In the event of a system fault, the fault current quickly melts the fuse, generating an arc. The arc ignites the inner arc tube, releasing large volumes of gas and creating high pressure. This results in a vertical wind effect within the tube that rapidly stretches and extinguishes the arc. Once the fuse is blown, the moving contact loses tension, triggering the release of the fuse tube, which then drops to create a breaking position. For load switching, an insulating rod is employed to pull the moving contact. Initially, the moving and static contacts remain engaged. As the rod continues to pull, the auxiliary contacts separate, creating an arc between them, which is stretched within the arc chute. The arc is eventually extinguished when the current reaches zero.
Use and Standards
This product is expertly designed for deployment in 10 ~ 35KV distribution lines, as well as on the primary side of distribution transformers. It offers reliable protection against overloads and short circuits, while also facilitating the seamless separation and combination of rated load currents.
The product follows the robust JB/T8321-1996 method for AC high-voltage fuses. Its parameters are aligned with the GB15166.3-1994 expulsion fuse standards for high voltage fuses. While these standards don't specify some crucial parameters and configurations, adjustments are made according to JB/DQ2139-1986 interim technical requirements for 10 ~ 35KV outdoor high-voltage drop fuses.
Drop-out fuse cutouts and load-switching fuse cutouts represent state-of-the-art outdoor high voltage protection solutions. They connect to the incoming feeder of distribution transformers or lines, providing vital defense against short circuits and overloads, as well as facilitating on/off load current switching. These devices consist of insulator supports and a fuse tube, with static contacts mounted on the support's sides and moving contacts at the ends of the fuse tube. The fuse tube features an inside arc-extinguishing tube and an outer layer constructed from phenolic compound paper or epoxy glass. Load-switching fuse cutouts are equipped with robust elastic auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguishing enclosure for effective on/off loading current management.
When functioning normally, the fuse link secures the fuse tube in a closed position. In case of system faults, the fault current melts the fuse instantly, creating an electrical arc. This heats the arc-extinguishing tube, causing it to release a significant amount of gas, thereby generating high pressure that expels the arc along the tube. Once the fuse link melts, the moving contact loses its tension, triggering the locking mechanism to release the fuse tube, which then drops, signaling the open position. For load switching, an operator uses an insulating operating bar to pull the moving contact. Initially, the main contact and auxiliary static contact remain in contact. As the auxiliary contact separates, an electric arc forms between the auxiliary contacts, stretching within the arc-extinguishing enclosure gap. Simultaneously, the arc-extinguishing gas is released to extinguish the arc during the current's zero crossing.
