General
The Drop-out fuse and pull load drop-out fuse serve as essential outdoor high-voltage protective devices. Installed on the high-voltage side of the distribution transformer or as a Support Link in distribution lines, they are crucial for safeguarding against short circuits, overloads, and for managing open and co-load currents. Each Drop-out fuse comprises an insulating bracket paired with fuse tubes. Static contacts are securely affixed to both ends of the insulation bracket, whereas moving contacts are positioned at both ends of the fuse tube. The fuse tube itself is ingeniously crafted from an inner arc tube and an outer phenolic paper tube or epoxy glass cloth tube. For enhanced operational flexibility during load conditions, the pull load drop-out fuse is augmented with auxiliary contacts and an arc chute to manage open and co-load currents effectively.
During regular operations, the drop-out fuse maintains a closed position, held in place by fuse tension within the tube. Upon encountering a system fault, the fault current rapidly burns out the fuse, generating an arc. This arc prompts the arc tube to decompose, releasing copious amounts of gas and creating a high-pressure scenario within the tube, which facilitates arc elongation and stretching. Once the fuse is blown, the moving contact loses its tension, triggering the locking mechanism to release the fuse tube, which then drops to signify a breaking position. When it is necessary to pull the load, an insulating rod is used to disengage the moving contact. Initially, the moving and static contacts remain engaged. Continued action with the insulating rod separates the auxiliary contacts, creating an arc between them. This arc stretches within the hood slit and is extinguished when the current reaches zero, aided by the arc cover filled with gas.
Use and Standards
This high-performance product is specially designed for use in 10 ~ 35KV distribution lines, branching lines, and on the primary side of distribution transformers. Its primary function is to provide robust overload and short circuit protection, alongside the seamless separation and combination of the rated load current.
The product model is crafted following the JB/T8321-1996 Method for type AC high-voltage fuses. Its parameters adhere to the GB15166.3-1994 standards for high voltage expulsion fuses. Given the standards do not explicitly define crucial parameters and configurations, adjustments are made as per JB/DQ2139-1986, which stipulates interim technological requirements for 10 ~ 35KV outdoor high voltage drop fuses.
The drop-out fuse cutout and load switching fuse cutout are meticulously engineered for outdoor use as high-voltage protective devices. They seamlessly connect with the incoming feeder of distribution transformers or lines, playing a pivotal role in shielding transformers and lines from short circuits and overloads, while efficiently managing on/off loading currents. The drop-out fuse cutout is constructed from insulating insulator supports and a fuse tube. Static contacts are strategically fixed on both sides of the insulator support, with moving contacts installed on either end of the fuse tube. Inside the fuse tube, an arc-extinguishing tube is enveloped by an outer phenolic compound paper tube or epoxy glass tube. The load switching fuse cutout is enhanced with enforced elastic auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguishing enclosure to proficiently switch on/off loading currents.
Under normal working conditions, the fuse link is effectively tightened within the fuse tube to maintain a closed position. Should the system encounter faults, the resultant fault current promptly melts the fuse and generates an electric arc. This event heats and activates the arc-extinguishing tube, leading to the expulsion of a large volume of gas, which generates high pressure, propelling the arc along the tube. Post fuse link melt, the moving contact loses its tension, causing the mechanism to lock and the fuse tube to drop, indicating an open position. For switching off during cutout loading, operators utilize an insulating operating bar to pull the moving contact. Initially, the main contact and auxiliary static contact remain engaged. As the pull continues, the auxiliary contacts separate, creating an electric arc between them. This arc elongates within the arc-extinguishing enclosure gap, and the arc-extinguishing process releases gas to extinguish the arc as the current passes through zero.
