As the fuse blows, the moving contact releases, rotating smoothly outwards as the locking mechanism disengages, allowing the fuse tube to drop and attain a decisive breaking position. When load pulling is necessary, an insulating rod is employed to draw out the moving contact while maintaining its connection with the static contact. With continued force application, auxiliary contacts separate, generating an arc that stretches within the hood slit. The Drop-out Fuse Cutout and Load Switching Fuse Cutout represent the epitome of high-performance outdoor high-voltage protective devices. Precisely designed to connect with the incoming feeder of distribution transformers or lines, they play a crucial role in protecting transformers and lines from short circuit incidents and overload conditions while adeptly handling the on/off load current. The drop-out fuse cutout consists of robust insulating supports and a fuse tube, with static contacts strategically affixed on both sides and moving contacts expertly attached at the ends of the fuse tube. The fuse tube features a sophisticated internal arc-extinguishing tube, complemented by an outer phenolic compound paper tube or epoxy glass tube. The load switching fuse cutout further incorporates high-performance, elastic auxiliary contacts, and an arc-extinguishing enclosure for efficient on-off load current switching.
In typical operational scenarios, the fuse link is engineered to ensure the fuse tube remains tightly closed. Upon encountering faults, the fault current rapidly melts the fuse, generating an electric arc that heats the arc-extinguishing tube, releasing significant volumes of gas to create high pressure and elongate the arc within the tube. Once melted, the moving contact loses tension, permitting the mechanism to lock, and the fuse tube to gracefully drop out, transitioning to an open position. For cutout load switching, operators skillfully use an insulating operating bar to draw the moving contact. Initially, the main contact remains engaged with the auxiliary static contact. As the auxiliary contact is further pulled, an electric arc forms between them, extending within the arc-extinguishing enclosure gap. Simultaneously, the arc-extinguishing mechanism expels gas to proficiently extinguish the arc as the current passes through zero.
