General
The drop-out fuse and pull-load drop-out fuse serve as essential outdoor high-voltage protection devices for electrical systems. These fuses are installed on the high-voltage side of distribution transformers or within the support link of distribution lines, providing robust protection against transformer and line short circuits, overloads, and allowing for current interruption. The drop-out fuse comprises an insulating bracket and fuse tubes, with static contacts affixed at both ends of the insulation bracket, while moving contacts are located at both ends of the fuse tube. Constructed from an inner arc tube and an outer phenolic paper or epoxy glass cloth tube, the pull-load drop-out fuse features enhanced flexibility through auxiliary contacts and an arc chute, facilitating seamless current interruption.
During normal operations, the fuse tube maintains a closed position due to the tension of the fuse. In the event of a system fault, the fault current swiftly melts the fuse, generating an arc. This arc ignites the arc tube, decomposing a large amount of gas which creates high pressure within the tube and generates a vertical wind along the pipeline. This process rapidly stretches and elongates the arc. Once the fuse blows, the moving contact loses its tension and triggers the locking mechanism, releasing the fuse tube, which then drops into the breaking position. To interrupt the load, an insulating rod is used to disengage the moving contact. Initially, the moving and static contacts remain in contact. Continued use of the insulating rod separates the auxiliary contacts, generating an arc between them. This arc stretches within the hood slit, where the arc cover contains gas. When the current reaches zero, the arc is extinguished.
Use and Standards
This product is designed for use in 10 to 35KV distribution line branches and on the primary side of distribution transformers. It serves to protect against overloads and short circuits, while enabling the separation and combination of rated load current.
The product model adheres to JB/T8321-1996 standards for preparing type AC high-voltage fuses. Product parameters comply with GB15166.3-1994 high voltage fuse expulsion fuse standards. Although some important parameters and configurations are not explicitly defined in the standards, corrections are made according to JB/DQ2139-1986 requirements for 10 to 35KV outdoor high voltage drop fuses.
The drop-out fuse cutout and load switching fuse cutout are critical outdoor high-voltage protective devices. The drop-out fuse cutout consists of insulating insulator supports and a fuse tube, with static contacts fixed on both sides of the insulator support and moving contacts at both ends of the fuse tube. The fuse tube is constructed from an inner arc-extinguishing tube and an outer phenolic compound paper or epoxy glass tube. The load switching fuse cutout features enforced elastic auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguishing enclosure for effective on-off loading current management.
Under normal operating conditions, the fuse link tightly secures the fuse tube in a closed position. If a system fault occurs, the fault current immediately melts the fuse, creating an electric arc that heats the arc-extinguishing tube, releasing a large volume of gas. This process generates high pressure and facilitates arc blowing along the tube. Once the fuse link melts, the moving contact loses tension, the mechanism locks, and the fuse tube drops out, putting the cutout in an open position. To switch off during cutout loading, the operator uses an insulating operating bar to disengage the moving contact. Initially, the main and auxiliary static contacts remain engaged. As the operator continues pulling, the auxiliary contacts separate, generating an electric arc that lengthens in the arc-extinguishing enclosure gap. During this process, the arc-extinguishing gas expels to extinguish the arc as the current approaches zero.
