Once the fuse blows, the moving contact loses its tension, initiating the release mechanism and allowing the fuse tube to fall, effectively breaking the circuit. For load management, an insulating rod facilitates the movement of the contact, with initial engagement maintained between moving and static contacts. The intricate construction features insulator supports and a fuse tube, with static contacts fixed on either side and moving contacts at both ends of the fuse tube. Crafted from an inner arc-extinguishing tube and an outer phenolic compound paper or epoxy glass tube, the load switching fuse cutout includes robust auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguishing enclosure for precise load current management.
Under normal conditions, the fuse link secures the fuse tube into a closed position. Should a fault occur, the fault current causes the fuse to melt instantly, leading to an electrical arc. This arc ignites the arc-extinguishing tube, resulting in the release of significant gas pressure that propels the arc along the tube. With the melting of the fuse link, the moving contact loses its tension, triggering the lock mechanism and allowing the fuse tube to drop, transitioning the cutout to an open position. During load switching, the operator uses an insulating bar to manipulate the moving contact. Initially, the main contact and auxiliary static contact remain engaged. As the auxiliary contact is further separated, an arc forms, elongating within the arc-extinguishing enclosure. The gas released aids in extinguishing the arc as the current approaches zero, ensuring safety and functionality.
