General
The Drop-out Fuse and Pull Load Drop-out Fuse are quintessential solutions for outdoor high-voltage electrical protection. These devices are strategically positioned either on the high-voltage side of distribution transformers or as essential support links in distribution lines. They serve as critical safeguards against transformer and line short circuits, overload conditions, and facilitate the opening and co-loading of current. The drop-out fuse is ingeniously crafted using an insulating bracket and fuse tubes, with static contacts affixed at both ends of the bracket and moving contacts attached to the ends of the fuse tube. The construction of the fuse tube features an inner arc tube coupled with an outer phenolic paper tube or epoxy glass cloth tube. The Pull Load Drop-out Fuse boasts enhanced flexibility with auxiliary contacts and an arc chute, specifically designed for seamless current load operations.
During standard operations, the drop-out fuse is securely held in a closed position with the fuse tube tensioned. Upon system malfunction, the fault current swiftly blows the fuse, generating an arc. This arc ignites the arc tube, causing the decomposition of large gas volumes, creating high pressure inside the tube, and generating a vertical wind path. This remarkable mechanism quickly stretches and elongates the arc. Once the fuse has blown, the moving contact releases tension and rotates outwards, while the locking mechanism disengages, allowing the fuse tube to drop and achieve a breaking position. When it becomes necessary to pull the load, an insulating rod is employed to pull the moving contact, maintaining contact with the static contact. With continued effort, the auxiliary contacts separate, creating an arc between them that is stretched within the hood slit. The arc cover, which contains gas, facilitates the arc extinguishment as the current reaches zero.
Use and Standards
This distinguished product is specially designed for deployment in 10 to 35KV distribution lines, including branching lines and on the primary side of distribution transformers. It offers robust protection against overloads and short circuits while enabling efficient separation and combination of the rated load current.
The meticulous design of this product adheres to the JB/T8321-1996 Method for AC high-voltage fuse preparation, while the product parameters conform to GB15166.3-1994 high voltage fuses Expulsion fuses standards. Where the standards lack detailed definitions of critical parameters and configurations, adjustments are made following the JB/DQ2139-1986 interim technology requirements for 10 to 35KV outdoor high voltage drop fuses.
The Drop-out Fuse Cutout and Load Switching Fuse Cutout are premier outdoor high-voltage protective devices. Designed to connect with the incoming feeder of distribution transformers or lines, they play a crucial role in safeguarding transformers and lines from short circuit incidents and overload conditions while managing the on/off load current. The drop-out fuse cutout comprises insulating insulator supports and a fuse tube, with static contacts fixed on both sides of the insulator support and moving contacts installed at the ends of the fuse tube. The fuse tube features an internal arc-extinguishing tube along with an outer phenolic compound paper tube or epoxy glass tube. The load switching fuse cutout also includes enforced elastic auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguishing enclosure for efficient on-off load current switching.
In normal operational scenarios, the fuse link ensures the fuse tube is tightened to maintain a closed position. When faults occur, the fault current causes the fuse to melt immediately, generating an electric arc. This causes the arc-extinguishing tube to heat and release a significant volume of gas, creating high pressure and elongating the arc throughout the tube. After the fuse link melts, the moving contact loses its tension, allowing the mechanism to lock and the fuse tube to drop out, switching to an open position. For load switching during cutout, operators must use an insulating operating bar to pull the moving contact. Initially, the main contact remains engaged with the auxiliary static contact. As the auxiliary contact is further pulled, an electric arc forms between the auxiliary contacts, which elongates within the arc-extinguishing enclosure gap. Simultaneously, the arc-extinguishing mechanism expels gas to extinguish the arc as the current passes through zero.
