General
The Drop-out Fuse and Load-Switching Drop-out Fuse are robust outdoor high-voltage electrical protection devices. These are strategically placed on the high-voltage side of distribution transformers or as supportive links in distribution lines, serving as guardians against transformers and line short circuits, overloads, and providing operational control over current. Their construction includes an insulating bracket and fuse tubes, with static contacts mounted at either end of the insulation bracket. The moving contacts are positioned at the ends of the fuse tube, which itself consists of an inner arc-extinguishing tube and an outer sheath, made from either a phenolic paper tube or an epoxy glass cloth tube. The Load-Switching Drop-out Fuse is enhanced with auxiliary contacts and an arc chute, designed to provide increased operational flexibility and management of current loads.

During regular operations, the tension within the fuse tube keeps the system in a secure closed position. However, when a fault arises, the fault current swiftly melts the fuse and generates an arc. The arc activates the arc-extinguishing tube, which releases a significant quantity of gas, creating high pressure within the tube and generating a vertical wind along the conduit. This mechanism rapidly stretches and elongates the arc. When the fuse is blown, the tension is released, causing the moving contact to disengage, which activates the locking mechanism to release the fuse tube, thus initiating an open circuit. For load handling, an insulating rod is used to manipulate the moving contact. Initially, as the moving and static contacts remain engaged, the arc develops between auxiliary contacts and extends into the arc chute. The arc chute contains gas that aids in extinguishing the arc once the current reaches zero.

Use and Standards
This versatile product is suited for application in 10 to 35KV distribution line branches and the primary side of distribution transformers. It offers robust protection against overloads and short circuits, while also facilitating the separation and recombination of the rated load current with precision.
The product model is specified according to JB/T8321-1996, which outlines the type preparation method for AC high-voltage fuses. Its parameters adhere to the GB15166.3-1994 standards for high-voltage expulsion fuses. Although these standards do not comprehensively define all critical parameters and configurations, adjustments are made in accordance with the interim technical requirements of JB/DQ2139-1986 for 10 to 35KV outdoor high-voltage drop fuses.
Drop-out Fuse Cutouts and Load-Switching Fuse Cutouts serve as essential outdoor high-voltage protective devices. They are integrated with the incoming feeders of distribution transformers or distribution lines, providing essential protection against short circuits and overloading, as well as managing the on/off loading of current. These cutouts consist of insulated insulator supports and a fuse tube. Static contacts are securely fixed to both sides of the insulator support, while moving contacts are attached to the ends of the fuse tube. The fuse tube includes an inner arc-extinguishing tube and can be encased in an outer phenolic compound paper tube or epoxy glass tube. The Load-Switching Fuse Cutout is distinguished by its enforced elastic auxiliary contacts and arc-extinguishing enclosure, which facilitate effective load current switching.

Under normal operating conditions, a tightened fuse link secures the fuse tube in a closed position. When a system anomaly occurs, the resulting fault current promptly melts the fuse, creating an electric arc. This arc causes the arc-extinguishing tube to heat up and emit substantial gas, producing a high-pressure release that propels the arc along the tube. Once the fuse link melts, the moving contact loses its tension, triggering the locking mechanism, which leads to the fuse tube's disengagement, thereby opening the circuit. For load switching, an operator uses an insulating operating bar to manipulate the moving contact. Initially, the main and auxiliary static contacts remain engaged. As the auxiliary contact is further separated, an electric arc occurs between them, which extends along the arc-extinguishing enclosure gap. Concurrently, the arc-extinguishing gas is released to extinguish the arc as the current approaches zero.
