General
The Drop-out Fuse and Load Drop-out Fuse are essential outdoor high-voltage electrical protection devices. Strategically installed on the high-voltage side of distribution transformers or on distribution line support links, they serve as critical safeguards against short circuits and overloads in transformers and lines. Constructed with a robust insulating bracket and a sophisticated fuse tube, their static contacts are firmly positioned at each end of the insulation bracket. The moving contacts are expertly mounted on both ends of the fuse tube, which itself comprises an inner arc tube alongside an outer tube made from either phenolic paper or epoxy glass cloth. The Load Drop-out Fuse enhances operational flexibility with auxiliary contacts and an arc chute, facilitating seamless current operations.
During normal operations, the drop-out fuse remains in a closed position, maintained by the tension of the fuse tube. Upon system failure, the fault current promptly melts the fuse, rapidly forming an arc. This arc combusts within the arc tube, generating significant gas decomposition and high pressure, which drives a vertical wind along the tube, swiftly elongating the arc. Once the fuse blows, the moving contact loses its tension, triggering the locking mechanism. This release causes the fuse tube to drop, creating an open position. To pull the load, an insulating rod is used to disengage the moving contact. Initially, the moving and static contacts remain connected. Continued rod operation separates the auxiliary contacts, forming an arc in the hood slit infused with gas, efficiently extinguishing the arc when the current reaches zero.
Use and Standards
This innovative product is specifically designed for use in 10 to 35KV distribution lines, including branching lines and the primary side of distribution transformers. It provides unprecedented overload and short circuit protection, enabling both separation and combination of the rated load current.
The meticulous design of this product adheres to the rigorous standards set by JB/T8321-1996 for the preparation of type AC high-voltage fuses. The product parameters conform to the GB15166.3-1994 standards for high voltage expulsion fuses. In cases where these standards do not define critical parameters and configurations, adaptations are made according to the JB/DQ2139-1986 interim technical requirements for 10 to 35KV outdoor high voltage drop fuses.
The Drop-out Fuse Cutout and Load Switching Fuse Cutout are robust outdoor high voltage protective devices, meticulously engineered to connect with incoming feeders of distribution transformers or distribution lines. Their primary function is to safeguard against transformer or line short circuits, overloads, and to manage on/off loading of current. Each Cutout is constructed with insulating insulator supports and a durable fuse tube, with static contacts securely fixed on either side of the insulator support and moving contacts installed on either end of the fuse tube. The fuse tube is composed of an advanced inside arc-extinguishing tube, encased in an outer phenolic compound paper or epoxy glass tube. The Load Switching Fuse Cutout is further enhanced with enforced elastic auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguishing enclosure, facilitating efficient switching of load currents.
Under normal operation, the fuse link secures the fuse tube tightly to maintain a closed position. Upon detecting a fault, the fault current swiftly melts the fuse, triggering an electric arc. This process heats the arc-extinguishing tube, resulting in the rapid release of gas and high-pressure formation, which propels the arc to extend along the tube. When the fuse link melts, the moving contact loses its tension, and the mechanism locks, allowing the fuse tube to drop, signifying an open position. For switching off during cutout loading, operators use an insulating operating bar to disengage the moving contact. Initially, the main and auxiliary static contacts remain engaged. As the bar continues to pull, the auxiliary contacts separate, creating an arc that lengthens within the arc-extinguishing enclosure gap. The enclosure then releases gas to extinguish the arc effectively as the current passes zero.
