Introducing the versatile Drop-out Fuse and Load Drop-out Fuse, engineered for the robust protection of outdoor high-voltage electrical systems. These fuses are strategically positioned on the high-voltage side of distribution transformers or as a critical Support Link in distribution lines. Their main function is to safeguard transformers and lines from short circuits and overloads, while also managing current interruptions and load co-operations. Crafted with precision, the Drop-out Fuse features a durable insulating bracket and a dual-layer fuse tube—comprising an inner arc tube and an outer shell made from phenolic paper or epoxy glass cloth. The static contacts are securely mounted at each end of the insulation bracket, while the moving contacts connect at the ends of the fuse tube. For enhanced operational flexibility, the load drop-out fuse is equipped with auxiliary contacts and an arc chute, ensuring seamless current co-load control.
During standard operations, the fuse tube is held in a closed position by the tension of the fuse link. Upon detecting a system fault, the fault current rapidly ruptures the fuse, generating an arc. This arc incites the arc tube to decompose, releasing a substantial volume of gas that builds high pressure within the tube and propels a vertical wind along the pipeline. This process efficiently elongates and quenches the arc. Once the fuse is blown, the moving contact loses its tension and disengages, triggering the locking mechanism to release and position the fuse tube to drop, entering a breaking position. During load operations, an insulating rod is used to disengage the moving contact. Initially, the moving and static contacts remain engaged, but continued operation with the insulating rod separates the auxiliary contacts. An arc then forms between these contacts, stretching along the hood slit filled with gas. When the current reaches zero, the arc naturally extinguishes.
Use and Standards
This sophisticated product is designed for use in distribution line branches and the primary side of distribution transformers, ranging from 10 to 35KV. It offers reliable protection against overloading and short circuits, with the capability to separate and combine the rated load current seamlessly.
The product model adheres to JB/T8321-1996 Method for type preparation of AC High-Voltage Fuses. Its parameters comply with GB15166.3-1994 standards for Expulsion Fuses. Although these standards do not delineate crucial parameters and configurations, they are refined according to JB/DQ2139-1986 requirements for 10 to 35KV outdoor high-voltage drop fuse interim technology.
Designed for outdoor application, the Drop-out Fuse Cutout and Load Switching Fuse Cutout are high-voltage protective devices, crucial for the connectivity with incoming feeder lines of distribution transformers and distribution lines. Their primary role is to shield transformers and lines from short circuits and overloads while facilitating on-off loading current. The Drop-out Fuse Cutout is intricately composed of insulating insulator supports and a fuse tube, with static contacts fixed at both ends of the insulator support and moving contacts installed at the ends of the fuse tube. The fuse tube itself consists of an inner arc-extinguishing tube, covered by either a phenolic compound paper tube or an epoxy glass tube. The load switching fuse cutout further enhances operational reliability with enforced elastic auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguishing enclosure for seamless current switching.
Under normal operating conditions, the fuse link maintains the fuse tube in a secured, closed position. Should a system fault occur, the resultant fault current swiftly melts the fuse, creating an electric arc. This arc energizes the arc-extinguishing tube to emit substantial gases, generating high pressure and directing the arc along the tube. As the fuse link melts and the moving contact loses its tension, the locking mechanism engages, dropping the fuse tube and opening the cutout. For load switching, operators employ an insulating operating bar to disengage the moving contact. Initially, the main contact and auxiliary static contact remain connected, but further pulling separates them, forming an arc that extends within the arc-extinguishing enclosure. When the current reaches zero, the arc is effectively extinguished by the gas emitted from the arc-extinguishing system.
