General
The drop-out fuse and pull-load drop-out fuse are essential outdoor high-voltage protective devices. These fuses are strategically installed on the high-voltage side of distribution transformers or within the pivotal support link of distribution networks. They serve as vital guardians, providing protection against short circuits and overload, while also enabling circuits to open and close with co-load current. Crafted with precision, the drop-out fuse consists of an insulating bracket and a robust fuse tube. At the ends of this bracket are static contacts, while the dynamic moving contacts are housed at the extremities of the fuse tube. The fuse tube itself is engineered with an inner arc tube paired with an outer layer of phenolic paper or epoxy glass cloth, ensuring superior durability. For added flexibility, the pull-load drop-out fuse features enhanced auxiliary contacts and an arc chute, efficiently managing the co-load current operations.
In normal operations, the drop-out fuse maintains a closed position, secured firmly by the tension within the fuse tube. Upon a system failure, the fault current rapidly blows the fuse, igniting an arc. This arc heats the arc tube, which then releases copious amounts of gas, creating high pressure within the tube. This phenomenon generates a vertical wind that swiftly stretches and elongates the arc. Once the fuse is blown, the tension is released, causing the moving contact to retract and engage a locking mechanism, thereby dropping the fuse tube and establishing a breaking position. During load operations, an insulating rod is used to manipulate the moving contact. As the rod is pulled, the main and static contacts initially remain engaged. Continued pulling separates the auxiliary contacts, creating an arc stretched within the hood slit. The arc cover, filled with gas, extinguishes the arc when the current reaches zero.
Use and Standards
This innovative product is expertly designed for use within 10 ~ 35KV distribution line branches and on the primary side of distribution transformers. It provides unparalleled protection against overloads and short circuits, offering seamless separation and combination of the rated load current.
The product model adheres to JB/T8321-1996 standards for type AC high-voltage fuses. Parameters are crafted in accordance with GB15166.3-1994 for high voltage expulsion fuses. While these standards outline key parameters and configurations, any undefined specifics are adapted following JB/DQ2139-1986 for 10 ~ 35KV outdoor high voltage drop fuses, ensuring technological accuracy and compliance with interim requirements.
Drop-out fuse cutouts and load-switching fuse cutouts stand as robust outdoor high-voltage protective devices. These are seamlessly connected to the incoming feeder of a distribution transformer or line, mainly to shield against short circuits and overloads while facilitating on/off load operations. The drop-out fuse cutout is meticulously constructed from insulated support structures combined with a durable fuse tube. Static contacts are securely fixed on either side of the insulator support, while the moving contacts are skillfully integrated at both ends of the fuse tube. This tube comprises an internal arc-extinguishing tube, encased in an outer layer of phenolic compound paper or epoxy glass. The load-switching fuse cutout is enhanced with enforced elastic auxiliary contacts and a specialized arc-extinguishing enclosure, expertly handling on-off load currents.
During standard operation, the fuse link ensures the fuse tube is fixedly secured, forming a closed position. In the event of a system fault, the fault current causes the fuse to melt instantaneously, generating an electric arc. This arc heats the arc-extinguishing tube, releasing a surge of gas that produces high pressure, blowing along the tube. As the fuse link melts, the moving contact loses its tension, initiating the locking mechanism and causing the fuse tube to drop, thereby opening the cutout. When switching off during loading, an operator uses an insulating bar to pull the moving contact. Initially, the main and auxiliary static contacts remain connected. As the pulling continues, the auxiliary contacts separate, and an electric arc forms, stretching within the arc-extinguishing enclosure gap. This enclosure releases gas to extinguish the arc as the current drops to zero.
