General
The drop-out fuse and load-switching drop-out fuse represent pinnacle advancements in outdoor high-voltage electrical protection. They are strategically installed on the high-voltage side of distribution transformers or as integral components of distribution lines. These fuses serve as formidable guardians, providing robust protection against transformer and line short circuits, overloads, and facilitating seamless opening and co-load current operations. Constructed with a meticulously designed insulating bracket, the fuse tubes are equipped with static contacts fixed at both ends, while the moving contact is expertly installed on the ends of the fuse tube. The innovative design of the fuse tube features an inner arc tube encased within an outer phenolic paper or epoxy glass cloth tube. The pull load drop-out fuse enhances operational flexibility with auxiliary contacts and an arc chute, ensuring optimal performance in co-load current situations.
In standard operating conditions, the drop-out fuse is securely closed with the fuse tube under precise tension. Upon a system fault occurrence, the fault current rapidly melts the fuse, initiating an arc and decomposing the tube to emit an extensive volume of gas, creating high pressure within the tube. This pressure generates a vertical wind along the pipeline, swiftly stretching and elongating the arc. Once the fuse has melted, the moving contact loses tension and pivots outward, unlocking the mechanism and releasing the fuse tube, thereby establishing a definitive breaking position. During load disconnection, the insulating rod is employed to manipulate the moving contact. Initially, the static and moving contacts remain engaged. Continued operation with the insulating rod separates the auxiliary contacts, causing an arc to form between them, which elongates within the hood slit. The arc cover, infused with gas, ensures the arc extinguishes when the current reaches zero, safeguarding the system's integrity.

Under normal working conditions, the fuse link secures the fuse tube in a closed position. When a fault disrupts the system, the resulting fault current quickly melts the fuse and ignites an electric arc. This action heats the arc-extinguishing tube, releasing a significant volume of gas and creating high pressure that propels the arc along the tube. Once the fuse link melts, the moving contact loses tension, the mechanism locks, and the fuse tube drops, transitioning the cutout to an open position. For load disconnection during a cutout operation, operators use an insulating operating bar to pull the moving contact. Initially, the main and auxiliary static contacts remain engaged. With further pulling, the auxiliary contact separates, producing an electric arc between the contacts. This arc extends within the arc-extinguishing enclosure gap. As the current approaches zero, the arc-extinguishing process releases gas, effectively blowing out the arc and ensuring a seamless transition.
