In normal operations, the drop-out fuse is securely closed, with the fuse tube perfectly tensioned. When faults arise, the fault current rapidly blows the fuse, producing an arc. After melting, the moving contact loses its tension, prompting the mechanism to lock and the fuse tube to drop out, transitioning to an open position. For cutout load switching, operators employ an insulating operating rod to pull the moving contact. Initially, the main contact remains engaged with the auxiliary static contact.
