General
The drop-out fuse and pull load drop-out fuse represent an outdoor high-voltage protective device essential for safeguarding electrical systems. Typically installed on the high-voltage side of distribution transformers or as a supportive link in distribution lines, these fuses ensure protection against transformer and line short circuits, overloads, and facilitate open-circuit load currents. Constructed with an insulating bracket and fuse tubes, the static contact is affixed to both ends of the insulation bracket, while the moving contact is mounted on the fuse tube ends. The fuse tube itself is crafted from an inner arc tube enveloped by an outer phenolic paper tube or an epoxy glass cloth tube. The pull load drop-out fuse is equipped with flexible auxiliary contacts and an arc chute for enhancing operational flexibility when opening or co-load currents are involved.
During normal operation, the drop-out fuse remains in a closed position, with the fuse tube and fuse under tension. Upon system failure, the fault current rapidly melts the fuse, generating an arc. The arc tube, subjected to the intense heat of the arc, releases vast quantities of gas, creating high pressure within the tube. This results in a vertical wind along the pipeline, effectively stretching and elongating the arc. When the fuse blows, the moving contact loses tension, triggers the locking mechanism, releases the fuse tube, and drops it into the breaking position. To pull the load, an insulating rod is employed to disengage the moving contact, maintaining contact with the static contact initially. Continued pulling with the insulating rod separates the auxiliary contacts, with an arc forming and elongating within the hood slit. Gas within the arc cover facilitates the extinguishing of the arc when the current reaches zero.
Use and Standards
This product is ingeniously designed for application in 10 ~ 35KV distribution lines, branching lines, and the primary side of distribution transformers. It provides exemplary protection against overloads and short circuits, while adeptly handling the separation and combination of rated load currents.
The product model adheres to the JB/T8321-1996 Method for type AC high-voltage fuses preparation. It is engineered in compliance with the GB15166.3-1994 high voltage fuses expulsion fuses standards. Where standards ambiguously define key parameters and configurations, corrections are made in accordance with JB/DQ2139-1986 requirements for 10 ~ 35KV outdoor high voltage drop fuses interim technology.
Drop-out fuse cutouts and load switching fuse cutouts are pivotal outdoor high voltage protective devices. They are seamlessly integrated with the incoming feeder of distribution transformers or distribution lines, providing indispensable protection against short circuits and overloads, while managing on/off loading currents. The drop-out fuse cutout comprises insulate insulator supports and a fuse tube, with static contacts secured on both sides of the insulator support and moving contacts installed at the fuse tube ends. The fuse tube's architecture includes an inner arc-extinguishing tube enveloped by an outer phenolic compound paper tube or epoxy glass tube. The load switching fuse cutout features enforced elastic auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguishing enclosure to adeptly manage on-off loading current.
Under normal working conditions, the fuse link ensures the fuse tube is secured in a closed position. When system faults occur, the fault current rapidly melts the fuse, producing an electric arc that heats the arc-extinguishing tube and releases substantial gas, creating high pressure that blows the arc along the tube. Upon melting of the fuse link, the moving contact loses its tension, the mechanism locks, and the fuse tube drops out, transitioning the cutout to an open position. To switch off during cutout loading, operators utilize an insulating operating bar to pull the moving contact. Initially, the main contact and auxiliary static contact remain engaged, but further pulling disengages the auxiliary contacts, generating an electric arc that elongates within the arc-extinguishing enclosure gap. Concurrently, the arc-extinguishing mechanism releases gas to extinguish the arc as the current passes zero.
