General
The drop-out fuse and pull load drop-out fuse are indispensable outdoor high-voltage protection devices for electrical systems. Designed to be installed on the high-voltage side of distribution transformers or as support links in distribution lines, they serve as safeguards against transformer and line short circuits, overloads, and co-load currents. Each drop-out fuse comprises an insulating bracket and fuse tubes, with static contacts mounted at both ends of the insulation bracket. Meanwhile, moving contacts are fitted on both ends of the fuse tube, which consists of an inner arc tube encapsulated in an outer layer made of phenolic paper or epoxy glass cloth. The pull load drop-out fuse is enhanced with flexible auxiliary contacts and an arc chute, enabling efficient handling of open and co-load currents.
During normal operations, the fuse tube is held in a closed position by the tension of the fuse wire. However, in the event of a system failure, the fault current swiftly blows the fuse, generating an arc. The arc tube, scorched by the electric arc, decomposes to release significant amounts of gas, creating high pressure within the tube. This results in a vertical wind along the pipeline, swiftly stretching and elongating the arc. Once the fuse is blown, the tension in the moving contact is lost, causing it to rotate and disengage the locking mechanism, subsequently releasing the fuse tube and establishing a breaking position. To pull the load, an insulating rod is employed to draw the moving contact. Initially, the moving and static contacts remain engaged. Continued pulling with the insulating rod separates the auxiliary contacts, leading to the appearance of an arc between them. This arc extends into the hood slit, and as the arc cover discharges gas, the arc is extinguished when the current reaches zero.
Use and Standards
This product is designed for use in 10 ~ 35KV distribution lines, specifically on branching lines and the primary side of distribution transformers. It provides reliable protection against overloads and short circuits, ensuring effective separation and combination of the rated load current.
The product's model follows the JB/T8321-1996 methodology for type AC high-voltage fuses. Its parameters conform to the GB15166.3-1994 standards for high voltage expulsion fuses. Although some parameters and configurations are not explicitly defined by these standards, they align with the interim technology requirements specified in JB/DQ2139-1986 for outdoor high voltage drop fuses rated at 10 ~ 35KV.
Drop-out fuse cutouts and load switching fuse cutouts are high voltage protective devices designed for outdoor use. They are connected with the incoming feeder of distribution transformers or distribution lines, primarily safeguarding transformers or lines from short circuits and overloads, as well as facilitating on/off loading currents. The drop-out fuse cutout consists of insulator supports and a fuse tube, with static contacts affixed to both sides of the insulator support and moving contacts installed at both ends of the fuse tube. The fuse tube features an inner arc-extinguishing tube, encased in an outer phenolic compound paper or epoxy glass tube. The load switching fuse cutout is equipped with enhanced elastic auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguishing enclosure, ensuring efficient switching of on-off loading currents.
Under normal conditions, the fuse link secures the fuse tube in a closed position. If a fault occurs within the system, the resultant fault current causes the fuse to melt instantaneously, generating an electric arc. This, in turn, heats the arc-extinguishing tube, releasing a substantial amount of gas, creating high pressure and directing the arc along the tube. Following the melting of the fuse link, the moving contact loses its tension, locking the mechanism and causing the fuse tube to drop out, leaving the cutout open. In situations where switching off during cutout loading is necessary, operators use an insulating operating bar to pull the moving contact. Initially, the main and auxiliary static contacts remain engaged. As the auxiliary contact is pulled further apart, an electric arc forms between the auxiliary contacts, which is lengthened within the arc-extinguishing enclosure's gap. The arc-extinguishing process releases gas to extinguish the arc as the current approaches zero.
