During regular operation, the drop-out fuse remains firmly secured in a closed position, with the fuse tube under exact tension. When system anomalies are detected, the fault current acts swiftly, blowing the fuse and producing an arc. This powerful arc ignites the arc tube, decomposing a large volume of gas and creating high pressure within the tube to form an upward wind path that skillfully stretches and elongates the arc. As the fuse is blown, the moving contact disengages, gracefully rotating outwards while the locking mechanism disengages, allowing the fuse tube to drop and achieve a definitive breaking position. For load pulling operations, an insulating rod is used to draw out the moving contact while maintaining connection with the static contact. With continuous force, auxiliary contacts separate, producing an arc that stretches within the hood slit. The arc cover efficiently contains the gas, aiding in arc extinguishment as the current nears zero.

The drop-out fuse cutout features sturdy insulating supports and a fuse tube, with static contacts strategically affixed on both sides and moving contacts skillfully attached at the ends of the fuse tube. The fuse tube contains a sophisticated internal arc-extinguishing tube, complemented by an outer phenolic compound paper tube or epoxy glass tube. The load switching fuse cutout also integrates high-performance, flexible auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguishing enclosure for efficient on-off load current switching.
In typical operational scenarios, the fuse link ensures the fuse tube remains tightly sealed. Upon encountering faults, the fault current rapidly melts the fuse, generating an electric arc that heats the arc-extinguishing tube, releasing substantial gas volumes and creating high pressure to elongate the arc within the tube. Once melted, the moving contact loses tension, allowing the mechanism to lock, and the fuse tube to gracefully drop out, transitioning to an open position. For cutout load switching, operators skillfully utilize an insulating operating bar to draw the moving contact. Initially, the main contact remains engaged with the auxiliary static contact. As the auxiliary contact is further withdrawn, an electric arc forms between them, extending within the arc-extinguishing enclosure gap. Simultaneously, the arc-extinguishing mechanism expels gas to efficiently extinguish the arc as the current traverses zero.
