In typical operational scenarios, the fuse link ensures the fuse tube remains tightly sealed. Upon encountering faults, the fault current rapidly melts the fuse, generating an electric arc that heats the arc-extinguishing tube, releasing substantial gas volumes and creating high pressure to elongate the arc within the tube. Once melted, the moving contact loses tension, allowing the mechanism to lock, and the fuse tube to gracefully drop out, transitioning to an open position. For cutout load switching, operators skillfully utilize an insulating operating bar to draw the moving contact. Initially, the main contact remains engaged with the auxiliary static contact. As the auxiliary contact is further withdrawn, an electric arc forms between them, extending within the arc-extinguishing enclosure gap. Simultaneously, the arc-extinguishing mechanism expels gas to efficiently extinguish the arc as the current traverses zero.
