In typical operational scenarios, the fuse link ensures the fuse tube stays securely closed. Upon encountering faults, the fault current melts the fuse with astounding speed, generating an electric arc that heats the arc-extinguishing tube, releasing substantial gas volumes and creating high pressure to skillfully elongate the arc within the tube. Post-melting, the moving contact loses tension, enabling the mechanism to lock and the fuse tube to drop out, transitioning to an open position.
