Under normal operating conditions, the drop-out fuse is securely locked in a closed position, with the fuse tube under precise tension. When system faults are detected, the fault current acts swiftly, blowing the fuse and generating an arc. This vigorous arc ignites the arc tube, decomposing a substantial volume of gas and creating high pressure within the tube to form a vertical wind path that skillfully stretches and elongates the arc. As the fuse blows, the moving contact releases, rotating gracefully outwards while the locking mechanism disengages, allowing the fuse tube to drop into a decisive breaking position. For load pulling, an insulating rod is employed to draw out the moving contact while maintaining linkage with the static contact. Flawlessly designed to connect with the incoming feeder of distribution transformers or lines, they play an indispensable role in safeguarding transformers and lines from short circuit incidents and overload conditions while expertly managing the on/off load current. The drop-out fuse cutout comprises robust insulating supports and a fuse tube, with static contacts strategically fixed on both sides and moving contacts skillfully affixed at the ends of the fuse tube. The fuse tube is equipped with an advanced internal arc-extinguishing tube, complemented by an outer phenolic compound paper tube or epoxy glass tube. The load switching fuse cutout also incorporates high-performance, elastic auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguishing enclosure for efficient on-off load current switching.
In typical operational scenarios, the fuse link ensures the fuse tube remains tightly closed. Upon encountering faults, the fault current swiftly melts the fuse, generating an electric arc that heats the arc-extinguishing tube, releasing substantial volumes of gas and creating high pressure to elongate the arc within the tube. Once melted, the moving contact loses tension, allowing the mechanism to lock, and the fuse tube to gracefully drop out, transitioning to an open position. For cutout load switching, operators deftly utilize an insulating operating bar to draw the moving contact. Initially, the main contact remains engaged with the auxiliary static contact. As the auxiliary contact is further pulled, an electric arc forms between them, extending within the arc-extinguishing enclosure gap. Simultaneously, the arc-extinguishing mechanism expels gas to efficiently extinguish the arc as the current passes through zero.
