In normal operations, the drop-out fuse is held securely in place, the fuse tube taut and poised. However, upon detecting faults, the swift fault current triggers the fuse, creating a powerful arc that ignites the arc tube. As the fuse blows, moving contacts are gracefully released, unlocking the mechanism and allowing the fuse tube to drop decisively into a breaking position. For load pulling requirements, an insulating rod draws out the moving contact while maintaining the static contact connection. The load switching fuse cutout further includes elastic auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguishing enclosure for optimal on-off load current switching.
In typical scenarios, the fuse link keeps the fuse tube securely closed. When a fault arises, the fault current swiftly melts the fuse, generating an arc that heats the arc-extinguishing tube, releasing significant gas volumes and creating high pressure to elongate the arc. Once melted, the moving contact loses tension, unlocking the mechanism and allowing the fuse tube to drop into an open position. For cutout load switching, operators use an insulating bar to pull the moving contact. Initially, the main contact remains engaged with the auxiliary static contact. As it continues to pull, an arc forms between the contacts, elongating within the arc-extinguishing enclosure. Simultaneously, the arc-extinguishing mechanism releases gas to efficiently extinguish the arc as the current crosses zero, ensuring smooth operation and safety.
