General
The drop-out fuse and pull-load drop-out fuse are quintessential outdoor high-voltage electrical protection devices. These are strategically positioned on the high-voltage side of distribution transformers or as a critical link in distribution lines, providing essential protection against transformer and line short circuits, overloads, and facilitating current interruption under load conditions. Constructed from sturdy insulating brackets and fuse tubes, the static contacts are affixed at either end of the insulation bracket, while the moving contacts are skillfully installed at the ends of the fuse tube. The fuse tube itself is a composite of an inner arc-extinguishing tube and an outer tube, crafted from either phenolic paper or epoxy glass cloth. The pull-load drop-out fuse is ingeniously designed with enhanced flexibility through auxiliary contacts and an arc chute, effectively managing the interruption of load current with precision.
During typical operations, the fuse tube is held in a sealed position by the tension of the fuse link. In the event of a system fault, the fault current swiftly melts the fuse, creating an arc. This arc causes the arc-extinguishing tube to burn, releasing a substantial volume of gas, generating high pressure within the tube. This produces a vertical wind along the pipeline, which quickly stretches and elongates the arc. Once the fuse blows, the moving contact loses its tension, releasing the fuse tube into a dropping position. When it becomes necessary to pull the load, an insulating rod is used to separate the moving contact. Initially, the moving and static contacts remain engaged. A continued pull with the insulating rod separates the auxiliary contacts, causing an arc to form between them, which is stretched in the slit of the hood. The arc cover contains gas that helps extinguish the arc when the current reaches zero.
Use and Standards
This state-of-the-art product is indispensable for 10 ~ 35KV distribution lines, branching lines, and the primary side of distribution transformers. It provides robust protection against overloads and short circuits while adeptly handling the separation and combination of rated load currents.
The product model adheres to the JB/T8321-1996 standards for the preparation of type AC high-voltage fuses. It is manufactured in compliance with the rigorous GB15166.3-1994 high voltage fuses expulsion fuses standards. While some critical parameters and configurations are not explicitly defined within the standards, adjustments are made according to JB/DQ2139-1986 interim technical requirements for 10 ~ 35KV outdoor high voltage drop fuses.
Drop-out fuse cutout and load-switching fuse cutout serve as essential outdoor high-voltage protective devices. They also facilitate the on/off loading of current. Under normal working conditions, the fuse link secures the fuse tube in a closed position. If a system fault occurs, the fault current melts the fuse link instantly, producing an arc that heats the arc-extinguishing tube, causing it to release a significant amount of gas. This results in high pressure and a downward force on the arc within the tube. Once the fuse link melts, the moving contact loses its tension, the mechanism locks, and the fuse tube drops, leaving the cutout in an open position. During cutout loading, the operator uses an insulating operating bar to pull the moving contact. Initially, the main contact and auxiliary static contact remain engaged. As the auxiliary contact is pulled apart, an electric arc forms between them, which lengthens within the arc-extinguishing enclosure's gap. Simultaneously, the arc-extinguishing process releases gas that extinguishes the arc when the current reaches zero.
