General
The drop-out fuse and pull load drop-out fuse are essential outdoor high-voltage protective devices. They are strategically installed on the high-voltage side of distribution transformers or the supportive link of distribution lines to provide robust protection against transformer and line short circuits, overloads, and current interruptions. Each drop-out fuse is engineered with an insulating bracket and fuse tubes. Static contacts are securely placed at both ends of the insulation bracket, while moving contacts are installed on both ends of the fuse tube. The fuse tube is meticulously crafted from an inner arc tube and an outer phenolic paper or epoxy glass cloth tube. The pull load drop-out fuse is enhanced with flexible auxiliary contacts and an arc chute, ensuring seamless operation during current interruptions.
In standard operation, the fuse tube maintains a closed position through fuse tension. When system failures occur, fault currents swiftly blow the fuse, creating an arc. This arc activates the arc tube, which burns due to the electric arc, decomposing large amounts of gas. This gas forms high pressure within the tube, creating a vertical wind along the pipeline, stretching and elongating the arc for rapid disconnection. Post-fuse blowout, the moving contact loses tension and shifts outwards, releasing the fuse tube, which drops to form the breaking position. For load pulling, an insulating rod is used to maneuver the moving contact. Initially, the moving and static contacts remain connected. Pulling continues until the auxiliary contacts separate, producing an arc that stretches in the hood slit. The arc cover contains gas, allowing the arc to extinguish when the current reaches zero.
Use and Standards
This product is expertly designed for use in 10 to 35KV distribution line branches and the primary side of distribution transformers. It provides exceptional overload and short circuit protection while enabling the separation and combination of the rated load current.
The product follows the JB/T8321-1996 Method for AC high-voltage fuses. Product parameters adhere to GB15166.3-1994 standards for high voltage expulsion fuses. While these standards do not explicitly define critical parameters and configurations, adjustments are made in accordance with JB/DQ2139-1986 requirements for 10 to 35KV outdoor high voltage drop fuses.
Drop-out fuse cutouts and load switching fuse cutouts are key outdoor high voltage protective devices. Constructed with insulate supports and fuse tubes, static contacts are fixed on two sides of the insulator support, while moving contacts are placed on both ends of the fuse tube. The fuse tube features an inner arc-extinguishing tube and outer phenolic compound paper or epoxy glass tube. The load switching fuse cutout is equipped with reinforced auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguishing enclosure for smooth current switching.
In normal working conditions, the fuse link tightens the fuse tube to secure a closed position. During system faults, fault currents immediately melt the fuse, generating an electric arc. This heats the arc-extinguishing tube, releasing gas and producing high pressure to blow the arc through the tube. Once the fuse link melts, the moving contact loses tension, unlocking the mechanism and allowing the fuse tube to drop out, indicating an open position. For cutout load switching, operators use an insulating bar to pull the moving contact. Initially, the main and auxiliary static contacts remain engaged. Continued pulling separates the auxiliary contacts, causing an arc that lengthens in the arc-extinguishing enclosure gap. Simultaneously, gas explodes to extinguish the arc as the current approaches zero.
