General
The drop-out fuse and the load drop-out fuse are essential components for outdoor high-voltage electrical protection. These devices are strategically installed on the high-voltage side of distribution transformers or the support link of distribution lines, serving as a shield against short circuits and overloads. The drop-out fuse comprises an insulating bracket and fuse tubes, with static contacts mounted on both ends of the bracket, while moving contacts are positioned at each end of the fuse tube. The fuse tube itself is ingeniously crafted from an inner arc tube encompassed by an outer phenolic paper tube or an epoxy glass cloth tube. The pull load drop-out fuse is designed to augment flexibility through auxiliary contacts and an arc chute, allowing effective current management.
During standard operation, the fuse tube, held in tension, maintains a closed position. However, in the event of a system failure, the fault current rapidly triggers the fuse to blow, generating an arc. The arc tube is subjected to the electric arc's intense heat, generating substantial amounts of gas and creating high pressure within the tube. This pressure generates a vertical wind that elongates and stretches the arc. As the fuse blows, the moving contact loses its tension, unlocking the mechanism and releasing the fuse tube, which then drops to indicate a breaking position. When disengaging the load, the operator utilizes an insulating rod to pull the moving contact. Initially, the moving and static contacts remain in contact. Continued pulling results in the separation of auxiliary contacts, producing an arc between them. This arc elongates within the hood slit, where gas is present, extinguishing the arc when the current reaches zero.
Use and Standards
Employed within 10 to 35 kV distribution lines' branching lines and on the primary side of distribution transformers, this product serves as a vital defensive mechanism against overloads and short circuits. It seamlessly facilitates the separation and combination of the rated load current, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
This product adheres strictly to the model guidelines set by the JB/T8321-1996 Method for AC high-voltage fuses. Its parameters are meticulously designed according to the GB15166.3-1994 high voltage expulsion fuses standards. In scenarios where standards lack clarity on critical parameters and configurations, adjustments are made in line with the JB/DQ2139-1986 interim technical requirements for 10 to 35 kV outdoor high voltage drop fuses.
The drop-out fuse cutout and load switching fuse cutout function as essential outdoor high voltage protective devices. They are crucially connected to the incoming feeder of distribution transformers or distribution lines, offering protection against short circuits and overloads while enabling the management of on/off loading currents. The drop-out fuse cutout consists of insulated insulator supports and a fuse tube, with static contacts securely affixed to both sides of the support. Moving contacts are installed at both ends of the fuse tube, which itself is constructed from an inside arc-extinguishing tube, encased by an outer phenolic compound paper tube or epoxy glass tube. The load switching fuse cutout is equipped with robust elastic auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguishing enclosure to efficiently manage on/off loading currents.
In normal operations, the fuse link tightens the fuse tube into a secure closed position. Should the system encounter faults, the fault current instantly melts the fuse link, producing an electric arc. This process heats the arc-extinguishing tube, causing it to release substantial gas, resulting in high pressure and a subsequent bowing of the arc along the tube. Once the fuse link has melted, the moving contact loses its tension, triggering the mechanism to lock and causing the fuse tube to drop out, transitioning the cutout to an open position. For switching off during cutout loading, the operator uses an insulating operating bar to pull the moving contact. Initially, the main contact and auxiliary static contact remain connected. As the auxiliary contact is drawn apart, an electric arc forms between the auxiliary contacts, which elongates within the arc-extinguishing enclosure gap. Concurrently, the arc-extinguishing enclosure releases gas to extinguish the arc as it passes through zero current.
