General
The drop-out fuse and pull load drop-out fuse represent indispensable outdoor high-voltage protective devices, masterfully crafted to serve as stalwart guardians of your electric systems. Strategically positioned on the high-voltage side of distribution transformers or within distribution lines, these fuses provide formidable protection against transformer and line short circuits, as well as overloads. Moreover, they excel in managing open-circuit load currents with precision. Their robust and reliable construction features an insulating bracket and fuse tubes; the static contact is securely affixed on each end of the insulation bracket, while the moving contact is expertly positioned at the fuse tube's extremities. The fuse tube is ingeniously designed with an inner arc tube surrounded by an outer phenolic paper tube or an epoxy glass cloth tube. Designed for operational excellence, the pull load drop-out fuse is equipped with agile auxiliary contacts and an arc chute, enhancing its operational flexibility, especially when dealing with open or co-load currents.
In routine operations, the drop-out fuse remains closed, maintaining the fuse tube and fuse tension. When a system fault occurs, the fault current quickly melts the fuse, creating an arc. The intense heat from the arc causes a burst of gas from the arc tube, increasing the internal pressure. This initiates a vertical airflow along the pipeline, skillfully stretching and elongating the arc. As the fuse blows, the loss of tension in the moving contact activates the locking mechanism, which releases the fuse tube and guides it into the breaking position. For load pulling, an insulating rod is used to disengage the moving contact, initially keeping it connected with the static contact. Continued pulling with the insulating rod causes the auxiliary contacts to detach, forming and elongating an arc within the hood slit. The arc cover's gas helps extinguish the arc when the current reaches zero, ensuring safety and reliability.

Drop-out fuse cutouts and load switching fuse cutouts are crucial for robust outdoor high voltage protection. Seamlessly integrated into the incoming feeder of distribution transformers or distribution lines, they provide essential defense against short circuits and overloads, efficiently managing on/off loading currents. The drop-out fuse cutout features insulate insulator supports and a fuse tube; static contacts are securely placed on either side of the insulator support, with moving contacts resting at the ends of the fuse tube. The sophisticated design of the fuse tube includes an inner arc-extinguishing tube, encapsulated by an outer phenolic compound paper tube or epoxy glass tube. The load switching fuse cutout boasts robust elastic auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguishing enclosure, ensuring proficient management of on-off loading currents, thereby delivering reliable and effective protection.
Under standard operating conditions, the fuse link ensures that the fuse tube remains securely closed. When faults occur, fault currents rapidly melt the fuse, generating an electric arc that heats the arc-extinguishing tube, releasing a significant amount of gas. This high pressure propels the arc along the tube. Once the fuse link melts, the moving contact loses tension, activating the mechanism to lock, and the fuse tube drops out, transitioning the cutout to an open state. To switch off during cutout loading, operators use an insulating bar to pull the moving contact. Initially, the main contact and auxiliary static contact stay engaged, but further pulling disengages the auxiliary contacts, generating an electric arc that elongates within the arc-extinguishing enclosure gap. Simultaneously, the arc-extinguishing mechanism releases gas, ensuring the arc is extinguished as the current hits zero, safeguarding the system and ensuring optimal operation.
