During standard operations, the drop-out fuse remains securely locked in a closed position, with the fuse tube precisely tensioned. Upon detecting system faults, the fault current rapidly acts, blowing the fuse and generating an arc. Expertly crafted to connect with the incoming feeder of distribution transformers or lines, they assume a vital role in protecting transformers and lines from short circuit incidents and overload conditions while proficiently managing the on/off load current. In typical operational scenarios, the fuse link ensures the fuse tube remains tightly closed. Upon encountering faults, the fault current rapidly melts the fuse, generating an electric arc that heats the arc-extinguishing tube, releasing significant gas volumes and creating high pressure to elongate the arc within the tube. Post-melting, the moving contact loses tension, enabling the mechanism to unlock and the fuse tube to drop out, transitioning to an open position. For cutout load switching, operators utilize an insulating operating bar to pull the moving contact. Initially, the main contact remains engaged with the auxiliary static contact. As the auxiliary contact is further pulled, an electric arc forms between them, elongating within the arc-extinguishing enclosure gap. Simultaneously, the arc-extinguishing mechanism expels gas to efficiently extinguish the arc as the current passes through zero.
