The drop-out fuse cutout consists of robust insulating supports and a fuse tube, with static contacts firmly mounted on both sides and moving contacts affixed at the tube ends. The fuse tube includes a sophisticated internal arc-extinguishing tube, enclosed by an outer phenolic compound paper tube or epoxy glass tube. The load switching fuse cutout also features high-performance, elastic auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguishing enclosure for effective on-off load current management.
Under typical operational conditions, the fuse link ensures that the fuse tube remains tightly sealed. In the event of faults, the fault current swiftly melts the fuse, creating an arc that ignites the arc-extinguishing tube, releasing a significant gas volume and generating high pressure to elongate the arc within the tube. Once melted, the moving contact loses tension, allowing the lock mechanism to engage, and the fuse tube to gracefully drop to an open position. For cutout load switching, operators skillfully use an insulating operating bar to extract the moving contact. Initially, the main contact remains engaged with the auxiliary static contact. As the auxiliary contact is drawn further, an arc develops between them, extending within the arc-extinguishing enclosure.
